Home VCR-Based School Subjects Expand Educational Opportunities
JONESBORO, Ar. -- Digital Learning Network (DLN) has introduced VideoClassRoom (VCR), an educational service for home- based schooling programs that utilizes home VCR's to deliver classroom instruction in a wide range of subjects to kindergarten through high school students.
According to DLN president, Bob Shumpert, the VCR materials display content previously aired by the Bob Jones University (BJU) BJ HomeSat network and are packaged together with BJU Press curriculum to help home educators teach such subjects as science, math, and foreign languages as well as basic reading and writing skills. DLN is the authorized third party marketing company for BJ HomeSat.
DLN/VCR materials are targeted to the 2.5 million home school families living in the U.S. and other English speaking countries around the world. Each home school family averages 3.3 children, according to Shumpert.
"Home educators are choosing technology, such as DLN/VCR, to help in the education of their children. We are committed to enhancing the educational opportunities of home-based learning and to supporting the parents--the many moms and dads--who are the home educators. DLN provides a new pathway to utilizing the excellent content of BJ HomeSat materials," Shumpert said.
The DLN/VCR materials are offered as part of a membership package that includes year-round (12-month) content, a monthly payment plan with no additional charge for the second child, optional book purchases and the choice of materials by subject, not grade.
"We are excited to offer 61 new subjects available through our DLN/VCR service. BJU is well known for the quality of its instructional materials and its reputation of teaching for understanding. We constantly receive praise from parents telling us how much they appreciate the quality of our materials and the positive difference it has made in their children's educational progress," Shumpert said.
DLN/VCR educational packages begin at $139 per class and are available year round to accommodate the timetables of any home- based school program. (hyperlink to order form). With the VideoClassRoom Encore Program you can have access to the same tapes when your younger children need them.
